Now
that we’ve settled back into the rigors of BVC studies and New Year
celebrations are but a distant memory, we feel at AGIS that it is time to think
beyond Archbold and work hard on maintaining our social skills. So we’ll be organising
a few socials this season, which will include among other things, a pub crawl
and a visit to the 10-pin bowling alley! Perhaps there are some budding bowling
stars among us. Watch this space for an update on the dates for these events (details
will also be sent out in advance by email/facebook).
Secondly,
after our successful criminal bar panel evening on 26 Jan 2010, we would now
like to ask students for their views on other useful events we could run during
this busy period of pupillage applications and interviews (send to:
agis@graysinn.org.uk). We fully intend to organise another information evening
of this type in the near future.
Please
note that we will be holding the annual AGIS debate in late March, which
usually attracts plenty of lively discussion. The topic is yet to be decided,
so if you have any ideas, please send them to us by email by the end of Feb.
I should
also mention the new AGIS Law Journal, which is being run by our Welfare
Secretary (Polly Lord). This new venture will give as many eager students as
possible the opportunity to have their essays published and read by members of
the Inn and beyond. The first issue will be launched near Easter, followed by
the second edition in October. If you do have any articles and have missed the
deadline for the first edition, you are more than welcome to submit it for the
second edition.
Please note that parking is available within the
Inn for students. Tickets (currently at a cost of £5 per day) are bookable at
least 24 hours in advance and are available from the Education Office by
contacting Nina Kasina (ninakaszina@graysinn.org.uk).
For more information
on forthcoming AGIS social / educational events please see Little Griffin (our monthly
newsletter), the Facebook page (The Honourable Society of Gray's Inn) or the
AGIS pages of this website.
Finally,
may I extend, on behalf of the AGIS Committee, our best wishes to all for their
terms2 & 3 studies and the quest
for pupillage. Nearly there folks...
