Pupils
Congratulations on obtaining pupillage! First and foremost, if you have not yet registered your pupillage with the Inn and also with the Bar Standards Board then you must do so as soon as possible. Please find the Inn's registration form below. You should contact the Bar Standards Board directly to obtain their registration form.
The Bar Council requires all pupils to undergo a total of twelve hours of advocacy training in order to obtain a practising certificate. At Gray's Inn we offer a five stage compulsory training programme which also includes the Practice Management course. This goes beyond the minimum requirements imposed by the Bar Council. Please visit our Pupil Advocacy Course page for further details regarding each stage.
Please note if you have gained pupillage in London you will be automatically booked onto the Inn's Pupil Advocacy & Practice Management course once you have registered your pupillage with us. Details will be sent to you by email in early autumn and the course runs from October to March each year. For those who have pupillage elsewhere (you are still required to register your pupillage with us) you are required to complete your advocacy training on circuit.
