Application Process

In order to become a pupil supervisor a barrister must by approved by his or her Inn whilst meeting the eligibility requirements as set out in Section B5 of the Bar Standards Handbook.

Summary of Application Process:

The approval process comprises three stages:

  1. Submission of an application form, two references (sent directly to the Inn by the referees) and a copy of current practising certificate
  2. Attendance at a pupil supervisor briefing session
  3. Professional conduct check

Please note the minimum time required for any pupil supervisor form to be processed is 4 - 6 weeks.

 

From 1 January 2014 any applications received using the previous application forms (discontinued Sep 2013) will not be accepted.
